What does a session actually look like?
Here's the honest answer: it looks a lot more like hanging out than having your photo taken.
We start by walking the location together, no posing yet, just getting comfortable in the space. I'll point out the light, talk through the plan, and make sure your senior knows exactly what to expect. There's no pressure to be 'on' from the second we arrive.
Once we start shooting, I give guidance every step of the way. I'll tell them where to stand, how to angle, where to look, but I keep it relaxed. Most of my seniors say they forgot I was even taking photos by the end.
A few things you can count on:

No rushing. We move at whatever pace feels comfortable.

Posing guidance the whole way through. They won't be left standing there wondering what to do with their hands.

Outfit changes on their timeline. Need a few minutes to switch? Take them.

Honest feedback on what's working. If a location or angle isn't giving us what we want, I'll say so and we'll adjust.

By the time we wrap up, we'll have worked through every outfit, tried a few different spots, and I'll already know which frames are going to be the ones you love.

When you reach out, I'm going to ask a few questions that might feel unexpected for a photography inquiry. Things like: What are they into? Are they in sports, theater, band, art? What do they want to do after graduation? What makes them laugh?
I ask because I don't want to give you generic senior photos. I want photos that look like them, the specific, real version of them, not a posed version.
That means:

Bring the instrument. Band or orchestra? We shoot with it.

Bring the jersey. Athlete? We go to the field, the court, or the course.

Bring the sketchbook, the camera, the cleats, the letter jacket, the chess board.

Colorado
is our studio.
One of my favorite things about shooting in Colorado is that the backdrop does half the work. Golden hour in the foothills, downtown Denver murals, open fields in Highlands Ranch, the trails near Golden — every location tells a different story.

When should I book senior photos in Denver? Most Denver-area high schools require yearbook portraits by mid-October, so it's best to book in late summer — ideally August or early September. Booking opens for the Class of 2027 in August. Join the waitlist to be the first to know when spots open.
What should my senior wear for photos? There are no rules — and that's the point. Bring multiple outfits: something casual, something dressy, something that represents who they are. Encourage your senior to bring anything meaningful: a sports jersey, an instrument, art supplies, or a letter jacket. A full styling guide is sent after booking.

What if my teen doesn't want senior photos taken? This comes up more than you'd think. Most hesitant seniors warm up within the first few minutes once they're in a relaxed, low-pressure environment. Sessions are conversational and fun — not stiff or posed. Many teens who didn't want to come end up loving their photos and being the ones who share them most.
What can I do with my senior photos once I have them? So much more than yearbook. Every package comes with a full print release, meaning you can use and print your images however you'd like — through me or on your own. Popular options include graduation announcements and invitations, sports banners, framed prints for grandparents, custom photo albums, and senior slideshow memory books. Can we bring sports equipment or instruments to senior photos? Absolutely — and I encourage it. If your senior is an athlete, musician, artist, or has any passion central to who they are, bring it. Those are often the most meaningful and unique shots in the whole gallery.
